William J. Hickey is Of Counsel at Garson Law. He has litigated more than 100 cases during his combined 25+ years in private practice and as an Assistant State’s Attorney for the State of Maryland. Bill has represented clients in federal and state courts, as well as before a variety of federal agencies.

Bill is also a certified mediator and has mediated cases involving construction, employment and tort matters.

He has extensive expertise in complex legal issues in employment, commercial and tort-related cases. Bill has also provided legal defense to boards of directors involving claims of D&O liability. He has represented contractors, subcontractors and developers in a variety of matters, including product liability issues, third-party liability, and catastrophic injury to construction workers.

Bill has also spoken and published in the area of employment law and civil rights, including such topics as the Fair Housing Act, Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), and personal liability of corporate officers and directors on claims of sexual harassment. He has published articles in the Journal of Air Law and Commerce and extensively lectured on labor and employment matters.

Mr. Hickey was the trial attorney in the landmark hostile work environment/gender discrimination case in the District of Columbia, involving several Title VII issues. Lively v. FPA, 773 A.2d 1033 (D.C. 2001).
